Encinitas Ranch is the host site for the first qualifying tournament for the 2011 U.S. Putting Tour National Championship. The event will be held on Sunday, December 26th starting at 8:00 a.m. on the course's practice putting green.
In announcing the date and location, U.S. Putting Tour president, Jim Hartley, said that he expects a large turnout for the San Diego County event. "It's the day after Christmas and the San Diego Chargers don't play until 5:30 in the afternoon," explained Hartley.
Golfers interested in competing for a spot in the 2011 USPT National Championship can sign up and pay on the day of the tournament. The USPT is offering a special holiday entry fee of only $10.
The tournament is open to all amateur golfers who are at least 13 years of age. Men and women will compete together in the
putting tournament, as is the case in the
national putting championship.
Golfers will play 18 holes on the practice green. The top two finishers will qualify for the 2011 national championship, which is scheduled for September 24-30 in nearby Carlsbad, California at The Crossings.
There will be a number of USPT
putting events across the country throughout 2011 in the months leading up to the championship.
