After winning just three games last year the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have already met that mark in 2008 and will look to build on their 3-1 record when they host the Stanford Cardinal (3-2) on Saturday in South Bend.
Notre Dame’s impressive victory last Saturday against Purdue included 476 yards of total offense and 201 yards rushing, 137 of those yards came from Armando Allen Jr. who also scored a TD. The Irish also got a strong game from quarterback Jimmy Clausen who tossed three touchdowns and 275 yards of passing in the 38-21 win.
While their offense was clicking there remain some questions about their defense which allowed 359 yards of passing and 462 yards of offense to Purdue. That defense should catch a break this weekend as they face a Stanford squad that ranks 106th in the country for passing yards per game and 105th for total yards per game.
Stanford is coming of a pair of victories against San Jose State and Washington but will face an Irish team that, on paper, is much better than both those teams.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET.
