Daryll Clark threw for 220 yards and added a rushing TD, Evan Royster ran for 141 yards and a touchdown and the #6 Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0, 2-0) held the Purdue Boilermakers (2-3, 0-1) to just 241 yards of total offense in a 20-6 victory in Big Ten action on Saturday.
While Penn State didn’t put up the points like they had in previous games they were never really challenged by the Boilermakers as they built a 20-0 lead and Purdue’s only score came with less than seven minutes left in the game.
Clark gave the Nittany Lions a 7-0 lead in the first quarter with a one-yard run and Kevin Kelly booted a 25-yard field goal and their 10-0 lead carried over into the third quarter. Royster then scored from 4-yards out to make it 17-0 and Kelly kicked a 20-yard field goal early in the fourth to make it 20-0.
Purdue finally scored on a Kory Sheets one-yard run but the extra point attempt failed and Penn State was able to keep the game in check.
Penn State will travel to Wisconsin next week while Purdue hits the road to face Ohio State.
