AP Top 25 College Football Scores: Glen Coffee Too Strong as #2 Alabama Crimson Tide Edge Kentucky Wildcats

Glen Coffee rushed for 218 yards and a touchdown, Rolando McClain recovered a fumble and scored from 4-yards out and the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-0, 3-0) defense held the Kentucky Wildcats (4-1, 0-1) to just 35 yards rushing in their 17-14 SEC battle on Saturday.

Coffee got things started for Alabama in the first quarter as he busted a 78-yard touchdown run for an early7-0 lead and that advantage was pushed to 14-0 late in the first quarter when Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline fumbled and McClain picked it up and went 4-yards for the score.

There would be no more scoring until the third quarter when Hartline made up for the fumble with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Dicky Lyons Jr. to cut the Wildcats deficit in half but Leigh Tiffin gave the Crimson Tide some breathing room when he connected on a 22-yard field goal with just over two minutes left in the game.

The Tide’s defense then gave up a quick touchdown to Kentucky when Hartline found DeMoreo Ford on a  48-yard touchdown pass with 40 seconds left on the clock but the ensuing onside kick went out of bounds to seal Alabama’s win.

Alabama will host Mississippi in two weeks while Kentucky looks to bounce back against South Carolina next week.
