Kyle Orton threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns while the Chicago Bears (3-2) defense forced two turnovers and held the Detroit Lions (0-4) to just 185 yards of total offense and 12 first downs in a 34-7 victory on Sunday.
Robbie Gould put the Bears on the board in the first quarter with a 37-yard field goal and Orton tossed a pair of TDs in the second quarter, a 9-yarder to Matt Forte and a 12-yarder to Devin Hester, giving Chicago a 17-0 halftime lead.
Chicago wasted little time scoring in the second half as Forte scored his second touchdown of the game, a one-yard run to cap the Bears first possession of the third quarter. The Bears defense then got in on the scoring action as Charles Tillman picked off Dan Orlovsky and returned it 26-yards for a touchdown and a 31-0 advantage.
Detroit finally got on the board when Kevin Smith scored on a 12-yard run but by that point the Bears had already locked up the game.
