Keri Hilson has defended the graphic subject matter of her new song ‘The Way You Love Me’.
The US singer said the song and its accompanying video –
which features a number of expletives and sexual references and shows
her gyrating in a leather bikini – is a reflection of her wilder side,
and makes no apology for its graphic nature.
She explained to US radio station Hot 97: “I’m just saying what women
really think and feel and if I’m gonna be honest about myself, I have
to show that side of myself.
“You can’t have a song talking about what it’s talking about and not show a little more.”

The singer – who is about to release her second album ‘No Boys Allowed’
added she didn’t care it has had some bad reviews, because she knows
some women are “empowered” by its message.
She added: “Even though it’s gotten crazy, crazy, crazy bad reviews,
it’s also gotten some great reviews from women who respect it and women
who did feel empowered by it. So that, to me, overshadowed the ones
that didn’t understand it. I feel good.”
‘No Boys Allowed’ is released on December 20.
