NFL Scores Week 5: Jay Cutler and Denver Broncos Do Just Enough to Top Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jay Cutler threw for 227 yards and a touchdown, Brandon Stokley had 52 yards receiving and a TD and Matt Prater booted three field goals, including 55-yarder in the first quarter, as the Denver Broncos (4-1) held off the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) 16-13 on Sunday.

Neither offense could get much going in the first half as they both settled for a pair of field goals with Bucs kicker Matt Bryant connecting on 33 and 31-yards while Prater booted 55 and 40-yarders to put the score at 6-6 at the break.

Cutler managed to move the Broncos on their second possession of the third quarter and after he Tony Scheffler on a 16-yard toss to get down to the Tampa 10-yard-line he hit Stokley for the go-ahead score. Prater then boosted the lead to 16-6 early in the fourth quarter with a 27-yard field goal.

Tampa managed to get into the endzone after a long drive as Jeff Garcia hooked up with Ike Hilliard on a 7-yard pass with just under two minutes left but Cutler managed to move the ball for the Broncos and force the Bucs to use their timeouts, eventually leading to three kneel-downs to end the game.
