AP Top 25 College Football Schedule: #1 Oklahoma Sooners Battles Archrival #5 Texas Longhorns in Red River Shootout

#1 Oklahoma Sooners will battle archrival #5 Texas Longhorns in the anticipated Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday. The game will take place at noon on ABC.

The Red River Shootout is held annually at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair of Texas, getting its name from the Red River, which divides Texas and Oklahoma. Since 2005, the game has been referred to as the Red River Rivalry.

The annual rivalry is one of the best and most anticipated college football games of the season. This is the first time that both teams were ranked in the top five of the AP Top 25 college football rankings since 2004. Both teams have great offenses and defenses.

Oklahoma (5-0, 1-0 Big 12) enters the game ranked No. 1 for the first time since 2003. They boast one of the nation's most prolific offenses, ranking top five in the nation in passing yards, total yards and points scored.

The Sooners offense is led by quarterback Sam Bradford, who is second in the nation in pass efficiency (204.97) and seventh in total offense. Bradford has completed 72.6 percent of his passes for 1,665 yards and 18 touchdowns, all of which are top 10 in the FBS.

His two favorite targets are Manuel Johnson and Joaquin Iglesias, who have combined for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns. Despite having less yards and receptions, Jermaine Gresham is considered by many to be the best tight end in the nation.

In the running game, Oklahoma is led by DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown. Murray has 85 carries for 431 yards and five touchdowns, while Brown has 67 carries for 313 yards and six touchdowns.

Texas (5-0, 1-0 Big 12) is led by quarterback Colt McCoy, who has thrown for 1,280 yards and 16 touchdowns. He leads the nation in completion percentage (79.2%), is fourth in the nation in passing efficiency (197.94) and leads the Longhorns with 317 rushing yards.

McCoy leads an offense that is sixth in the nation in scoring (47.2 ppg), second in passing efficiency (196.49) and 12th in total offense (471.8 ypg).

On defense, OU and Texas are exceptional. UT is third in rushing defense (51.8 ypg), fourth in scoring defense (11.4 ppg) and first in sacks (3.8).

Oklahoma is first in pass efficiency defense (85.57), third in sacks (3.4), third in tackles for loss (8.6) and 11th in total defense (256.2 ypg).
