North Korea Bans UN’s IAEA Inspectors from Entering Yongbyon Nuclear Facility

North Korea has banned inspectors from the United Nations nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency from entering its Yongbyon facilities.

The ban comes as North Korea restores its Yongbyon reactor to plutonium production after an agreement to disable the facility fell through.

IAEA inspectors had been monitoring the shutdown process but after North Korea accused the United States of failing to fulfill its promises in the nuclear deal they halted their dismantling of the plant and announced they would begin to restore the Yongbyon facilities.

That deal was forged between North Korea and five other countries and included diplomatic incentives for halting the program. North Korea began dismantling their facility but when the United States refused to remove the country from a list of sponsors of terrorism they called the deal dead.
