Children on School Bus Among Dead in Roadside Bomb Blast in Pakistan

Four children travelling on a school bus were among the dead after a roadside bomb exploded in northwestern Pakistan.

At least ten people were killed in the attack in the Upper Dir district near the Swat Valley. Officials have reported four schoolgirls as well as several police officers and prisoners traveling in a second vehicle were among the dead.

It is believed the remote device was targeting the police vehicle but was detonated as the school bus drove past.

The Upper Dir district is near the Afghanistan border where troops are often engaged in battles with pro-Taliban militants.
