Michael Sheen developed “multiple personalities” based on film characters for his role in ‘Tron: Legacy’.
The British actor – who plays nightclub owner Castor in
the follow-up to the classic 80s movie – based the role on a number of
camp icons from the past, including Ziggy Stardust and Frank-N-Furter.
He said: “Castor is a guy who runs a nightclub who is a performer who
uses multiple personalities as a smoke screen, so there’s Ziggy
Stardust in there, there’s a bit of Joel Grey from Cabaret and a bit of
Frank-N-Furter from the Rocky Horror Show.
“I like the idea of being a popular-culture jukebox of all of these things.”
The 41-year-old star also reveals he was a huge fan of the original
film, which “transported” him for the first time from the cinema seat
into the movie.
He told the Daily Telegraph: “I was 12 when my uncle took me to see it
– he was babysitting that day. It was the first time a film had
transported me in that way, took me to a different world. And when I
came out of the cinema in Neath on a cold rainy day, the world looked
different. It gave me a sense of what was possible in cinema.”
