UInnovate in Contest for Pepsi Refresh Challenge Grant

Vote to promote undergraduate STEM research and provide boost to US economy

During the month of December, UInnovate - a non-profit formed to develop opportunities for students aspiring to careers in science and technology - is a participant in the Pepsi Refresh Challenge. UInnovate is a 501(c)3 non-profit launched earlier this year to help students prepare themselves for hi- tech jobs essential to the US economy.

Currently, the US is at risk of losing its competitive edge in crucial high-tech industries such as biotechnology. Without adequate investments and measures to develop talent, students will be unable to create value in a global market, thus becoming irrelevant. UInnovate's training program pushes students to achieve through funding opportunities, mentoring, seminars, and internships.UInnovate is currently in the running for $50,000 to give over 20 undergraduate students the opportunity to take part in a rigorous internship program that will prepare them for a career in biotechnology.

Each month this year, Pepsi has been giving away money as a part of their 'Pepsi Refresh' campaign to non-profits and small businesses that intend to affect change in their communities. UInnovate is part of the December round. Having started in 387th place, they have since jumped over 200 places in only three days.
