Julian Assange Held In Jail on Suspicion of Rape

Metropolitan police arrested WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange Tuesday morning on behalf of authorities in Sweden. Assange is being held in jail on suspicion of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion. The 39-year-old is accused of committing the crimes against two women he met in Sweden during a business trip in August 2010.

Assange was denied bail Tuesday and will remain in custody until his next hearing on December 14. He said he will fight extradition to Sweden. "Julian Assange has been the one in hot pursuit to vindicate himself to clear his good name,” the BBC quoted Assange’s lawyer, Mark Stephens, as saying.
