NFL Week 6 Schedule and Odds: Teams Look for Separation from Pack

The Week 6 schedule should provide a little bit of separation for what has become a season showing early signs of tremendous parity. There are currently 17 teams with a .500 record or better but only two teams remain undefeated, the New York Giants and the Tennessee Titans. Only the Titans are guaranteed to be undefeated at week’s end as they enjoy a bye week while the Giants take on the disappointing Browns on Monday Night Football.

The NFC East has been dubbed the best division in the NFL with the Giants at 4-0 while the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys have posted a 4-1 record and the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-3, two of those losses coming from within their division.

The NFC South has three teams above the .500 mark as well with the Carolina Panthers sitting at 4-1 while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons are 3-2. The Bucs have lost one game within the division while both of the Falcons losses have been within the division.

Moving over to the AFC East, all four teams are at .500 or better as the surprising Buffalo Bills lead the pack at 4-1 with the New England Patriots at 3-1 and the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets at 2-2.

NFL Week 6 Schedule

After a disappointing Monday Night Football loss to the Minnesota Vikings despite a huge game from Reggie Bush the New Orleans Saints (2-3) will look to bounce back as 7-point home favorites when they face the Oakland Raiders (1-3) in their first game since firing Lane Kiffin.

Peyton Manning led a miracle victory in the final minutes of last week’s game against the winless Houston Texans yet the Indianapolis Colts (2-2) are still a 4-point home favorite when they face the Baltimore Ravens (2-2) who continue to struggle scoring points.

Brett Favre is back on the field after tossing six touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 and the New York Jets (2-2) will look to jump over the .500 mark when they host the Cincinnati Bengals (0-5) as 5.5-pointfavorites.

In what may be the game of the week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-2) have been listed as a 1-point favorite in their game against the Carolina Panthers (3-2). The Bucs haven’t lost at home while the Panthers lone loss was at Minnesota in Week 3.

The Minnesota Vikings (2-3) may have saved their season when they knocked off New Orleans last Monday night and they are now a 13-point favorite against the lowly Detroit Lions (0-4) who took another pounding last week at the hand of the Chicago Bears.

Those same Chicago Bears (3-2) hit the road as 1-point favorites when they take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-2). The Bears have posted a 2-1 record away from home while the Falcons are 2-0 at home. Atlanta is coming off a big road win in Green Bay.

While the Houston Texans (0-4) have yet to taste victory and they continue to face questions at quarterback they have been listed as a 3-point favorite over the visiting Miami Dolphins (2-2) who earned an upset win over the San Diego Chargers.

The Washington Redskins (4-1) have enjoyed an incredible start to their 2008 campaign with road wins over Dallas and Philadelphia and are heavy favorites, carrying a -13.5 number into Sunday as they host the awful St Louis Rams (0-4) who have scored a total of 43 points this year.

Jay Cutler continues to enjoy success in 2008 and following the Denver Broncos (4-1) victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday they improved to 3-0 at home and are a 3.5-point favorite at home on Sunday when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-3) who fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday.

The Philadelphia Eagles (2-3) have dropped their last two games yet are still considered one of the elite teams in the NFC and enter Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers (2-3) as a 5-point favorite despite being on the road. San Fran has dropped their last two games as well, including a loss to the Patriots last week.

They didn’t exactly look sharp last week but the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) did win and are still considered a serious contender for the Super Bowl and will hit the road for the third time this year as 5-point favorite against the surprising Arizona Cardinals (3-2) who blasted Buffalo last week.

The Seattle Seahawks (1-3) have been one of the more disappointing teams this year and were embarrassed by the NY Giants last week but when they host the Green Bay Packers (2-3) on Sunday they’ll be a 1.5-point favorite. After starting the season 2-0 the Packers have lost three straight.

In what was one of the most anticipated matchups before the season started the San Diego Chargers (2-3) will be hosting the New England Patriots (3-1) as a 5-point favorite. The Patriots are coming off an impressive win against the 49ers while the Chargers fell to the Dolphins.

The New York Giants (4-0) have started out as one of the most dominant teams thus far despite a somewhat tumultuous off season and will hit the road for Monday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns (1-3) who are coming off a bye-week after picking up their first win of the year against the Bengals.
