Syria Releases Two American Journalists into U.S. Custody

Syria has released the two American journalists who had been detained for allegedly entering the country illegally.

Holli Chmela, 27, and Taylor Luck, 23, had been working for the Jordan Times in Amman and told friends they were going to visit Lebanon and would return for work on Oct. 4. When they failed to return they were reported missing and U.S. officials began searching for the two.

On Thursday the Syrian foreign ministry revealed Chmela and Luck had been detained after they attempted to enter the country illegally. After Syrian officials held the two and completed the “necessary measures” they were released into U.S. custody.
