Buckingham Palace has banned the production of commemorative tea towels to mark the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Official cloths celebrating the royal nuptials would "not be in good
taste" according to royal aides and have been struck off the approved
memorabilia list for the nuptials next year according to The Sun.
Royal Household Chief, Lord Chamberlain Earl Peel, issued a formal memo
which outlined the ban on tea towels and cited other items which are
deemed more appropriate.
The souvenirs which can use the official engagement snaps taken by top
photographer Mario Testino include biscuit tins, jars and china.
T-shirts are also not allowed, although the palace admitted it cannot stop unofficial versions being made.
A spokesperson said: "We want items that are permanent and significant."
Production of all official goods will cease in October, six months
after the couple's April 29 wedding at London's Westminster Abbey.
William and Kate announced their engagement last month after almost
eight years of dating. The pair will tie the knot in a lavish ceremony
in Westminster Abbey next year.
