'Coronation Street' stars have been hit with an alcohol ban ahead of tomorrow night's (09.12.10) live episode.
Bosses of the ITV1 soap have insisted nobody is allowed to drink in the
24 hours before the cameras start rolling, as they want cast and crew
to put on their best performances.
The stars will then be rewarded with a champagne celebration bash on
Friday (10.12.10), which will be sanctioned by producer Phil Collinson.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Phil feels it's only right that
everyone stays off the booze and keeps a clear head. Everyone is
putting all their energy into making this week a huge success - and
then crowning it with the mother of all parties."
The live show - which marks the end of the programme's 50th anniversary
celebrations in which three much-loved characters will be killed off by
a tram crash - will be shot in the street and the Rovers Return pub as
locals struggle to cope with the aftermath of the incident.
As well as banning alcohol, bosses have also stopped the cast from
taking bets on who will make a mistake first as they were worried it
could cause extra stress for the older stars.
