JOB SEEKERS USE ONLINE TOOLS TO TRACK HIRING PATTERNS

With the growing economic uncertainty in the job market, and limited time for job seekers to research the hiring trends in their trade, many are turning to the internet for newly created tools to help. One such service is Trendrr, a tracking tool that tracks and graphs real time market intelligence across a myriad of social networking, e-commerce, video and community sites. Using Trendrr it is now easy to get a snapshot of the aggregate number of job listing for a niche in any given city. With proprietary tools that track key words within job postings on Monster and Craigslist, time crunched job seekers can quickly gauge the hiring trends in their field and compare the results in different locations. For instance, below is a graph comparing social networking and social media jobs in New York City since late July.

Using Trendrr’s flash based graph, users can change the time scale, to see movement in short and long term trends and can also annotate milestones to add context to inflection points. In addition, using the Firefox add-on, job seekers can now easily graph items while they surf.
