A Continental Airlines flight carrying 133 passengers was diverted to Albuquerque International Sunport in New Mexico Wednesday to have a disruptive passenger removed from the plane.
FBI spokesman Frank Fisher would only described the male passenger’s behavior as “unruly” and refused to release any other details on what actions from the man promoted the crew to divert the plane. Fisher said the FBI does not believe the passenger’s behavior has any ties to terrorism. The man, whose name has not been released, has not been charged in the incident.
An airport spokesman said the man appeared to be suicidal, so the crew chose to divert to Albuquerque and have him removed. The FBI refused to confirm the passenger was suicidal. After about an hour delay in Albuquerque, Flight 1576 continued to Houston, Texas.
