Cheryl Cole has not landed a role on the US ‘X Factor’ yet.

Although the ‘Promise This’ singer – who has won the past two consecutive seasons of the UK show with her acts Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry - is rumoured to be joining Simon Cowell on the Stateside judging panel, Piers Morgan has warned a deal has not yet been finalised.

Former ‘America’s Got Talent’ star Piers – who is a close friend of Simon – told Heatworld Cheryl has not yet landed the gig.

However, he has backed Cheryl to succeed if she does land a role on the show, saying she will be a big hit in America.

Piers said: “I think she would be very successful. She's got everything that you need in America.

“She is hard-working, she looks great, she is charismatic on screen and she knows her stuff. She won her spurs on’ X Factor’ so I think she will be a big hit there.”

Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger - who appeared on the UK show as a guest judge earlier in the year - is also believed to be in the running to join the line-up with Simon Cowell expected to make an official announcement this month.

Filming for the US 'X Factor' is due to begin in the spring with the series broadcast in the run-up to Christmas 2011.
