Hurricane Norbert Upgraded to Category 3, to Hit Mexico’s Baja Peninsula as “Life-Threatening” Storm

Meteorologists have upgraded Hurricane Norbert to a Category 3 storm and have warned residents along the west coast of Mexico the damage could be “life-threatening.”

 

An advisory from the U.S. National Hurricane Center stated “Preparations to protect life and property in the hurricane warning areas should be rushed to completion.”

 

Hurricane Norbert could produce up to 10 inches of rain and spurring flash floods and deadly mudslides along Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.

 

Beaches along the coast have been closed as large waves have battered the shore due to winds reaching 115 mph. Hurricane Norbert is expected to touch land some time on Saturday.
