Graham Harrell was 20/25 passing for 284 yards and two touchdowns, Michael Crabtree had 89 yards and a pair of TDs on five catches and Baron Batch collected 97 yards on the ground on ten carries as the #7 Texas Tech Red Raiders (6-0, 2-0) survived an upset minded Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-3, 0-2) to win 37-31 in overtime on Saturday.
Harrell got the Red Raiders on the board in the first quarter with a 35-yard TD toss to Crabtree and the two would hook up again on a 4-yard touchdown pass late in eth third quarter to give Texas Tech a 24-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Nebraska turned it on in the fourth though as quarterback Joe Ganz used his legs to get the Cornhuskers in the endzone as he scored on a one-yard keeper to pull within 24-17. Ganz then found Dreu Young on a 2-yard TD pass to tie the score with six minutes. Texas Tech was able to stop the bleeding when Harrell gave them the go-ahead score on a one-yard TD run with 2:21 left in the game.
Ganz once again responded for Nebraska as he led the Cornhuskers down the field and eventually hit Todd Peterson on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 29 seconds left that sent the game to overtime.
Texas Tech wasted little time getting into the endzone as Eric Morris scored from a yard out but the Red Raiders missed the extra-point, opening the door for a Nebraska upset. Unfortunately for the Cornhuskers Ganz was picked off while trying to avoid a sack and the game was over.
The Red Raiders will face Texas A&M next week while the Cornhuskers travel to Iowa State.
