AP Top 25 College Football Rankings Week 7: Texas Longhorns Vault to #1 as Alabama Crimson Tide Remain #2
A wild shakeup in the AP Top 25 college football rankings has shot the Texas Longhorns up to the #1 spot following their 45-35 victory over then #1 Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday while the idle Alabama Crimson Tide remain at #2 in the Week 7 poll.
Penn State climbed up three spots after crushing Wisconsin 48-7 and now sit at #3, replacing the Missouri Tigers who were stunned by Oklahoma State. Missouri tumbled to #11 while Oklahoma State jumped nine spots to #9.
Despite their loss, the Oklahoma Sooners dropped just three spots to #4 and remain a serious contender for the National Championship. The Florida Gators benefited from a monster Saturday as well as they jumped six spots after dismantling then #4 LSU 51-21. The Gators now sit at #5 while the Tigers tumbled to #13.
The USC Trojans are right back in the thick of things after moving up to spots to #6 following their 28-0 blanking of Arizona State while Texas Tech held steady at #7 after surviving a scare from Nebraska.
BYU remained at #9 with a win over New Mexico State and the #10 Georgia Bulldogs held their spot as well with a win over the Tennessee Volunteers.
