NFL Week 6 Scores: Brett Favre and N.Y. Jets Send Cincinnati Bengals to Sixth Straight Loss

Brett Favre threw for 189 yards and a touchdown, Thomas Jones rushed for 65 yards and a pair of TDs and added a touchdown reception and the New York Jets (3-2) defense held the Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) to just 171 yards of total offense in a 26-14 victory on Sunday.

Favre didn’t exactly start on a positive note as he fumbled on the Jets first possession and Chinedum Ndukwe picked up the loose ball and went 15 yards for the touchdown to give the Bengals an early 7-0 lead.

The Jets QB made up for the mistake later in the quarter as he hit Thomas Jones on a two-yard toss to tie the game. Jay Feely then gave the Jets the lead 10-7 early in the second quarter with a 38-yard field goal and Jones found the endzone once more on a 7-yard run to boost the advantage to 17-7.

Cincinnati didn’t fold the tent though as they cut their deficit to 17-14 just before the end of the first half as Ryan Fitzpatrick, filling in for Carson Palmer, scored from a yard out with eight seconds on the clock.

Feely gave the Jets some breathing room in the third quarter with his second field goal, a 43-yarder and Jones sealed the game with just over two minutes remaining in the game with a one-yard TD run.
