Gus Frerotte threw for 296 yards and a TD, Bernard Berrian had 131 yards receiving and a touchdown and Adrian Peterson rushed for 111 yards but it was a questionable pass interference call late in the fourth quarter that made the difference as Ryan Longwell booted a 26-yard field goal with nine seconds on the clock to give the Minnesota Vikings (3-3) a 12-10 victory over the Detroit Lions (0-5) on Sunday.
The first half of the game featured a safety by the Vikings and a field goal from Lions kicker Jason Hanson as Detroit led 3-2 at the break.
Detroit then moved up 10-2 after Dan Orlovsky hit Calvin Johnson on a 12-yard touchdown pass but Minnesota answered when Frerotte hooked up with Berrian on an 86-yard touchdown toss to pull within 10-9 heading into the fourth quarter.
With less than three minutes left in the game the Vikings were facing a 2nd and 20 but Frerotte went deep to Aundrae Allison and while it looked like an incomplete pass the referee ruled it pass interference on cornerback Leigh Bodden, a 42-yard penalty that set up the Longwell game-winner.
While Peterson rushed for 111 yards for the Vikings he also fumbled twice.
