USA Today Top 25 College Football Rankings Week 7: Texas Longhorns Bull Their Way to Top as Oklahoma Sooners Tumble
The USA Today Top 25 for Week 7 looks decidedly different than it did just one week ago as all three teams holding supreme last week are gone and the Texas Longhorns have pushed their way to 31 after beating then #1 Oklahoma in a classic battle in Dallas 45-35 on Saturday.
Last week’s #4 Alabama Crimson Tide moved up to #2 despite not playing a down as they were idle this week and the Penn State Nittany Lions jumped three spots to #3 after trouncing Big Ten rival Wisconsin 48-7.
Just a few weeks ago it was thought USC was out of the National Championship picture but now the Trojans are right back in the thick of things after they jumped up five spots to #4 following their 28-0 home victory over an unranked Arizona State.
The Red Raiders of Texas Tech continued their push forward as they survived a battle against Nebraska in overtime on Saturday and they moved up two spots to #5 while the Oklahoma Sooners dropped to #6 after the loss to Texas.
In a big SEC battle on Saturday the Florida Gators embarrassed the then #3 LSU Tigers 51-21 and that win pushed then up five spots to #7 while dropping LSU to #14.
BYU held their #8 spot after beating New Mexico while the Georgia Bulldogs inched up to #9 following their victory over SEC rival Tennessee.
The big jump of the week belongs to Oklahoma State who beat then #2 Missouri to move from #17 to #10 in this week’s USA Today Top 25.
