Romania’s King Michael has been asked to take a paternity test by a German violinist who believes he is his son.

Dieter Stanzeleit, 71, has filed a lawsuit to force the 89-year-old monarch to appear in court next April to answer questions and to take the test according to The Scotsman newspaper.

Mr. Stanzeleit claims he has copies of three Romanian intelligence files which state the monarch married a British woman when he was 18 and had a child with her.

He has also written a book called ‘The Lost Queen’ in which he alleges he was brought up by the king and his mother at the Royal Palace until the outbreak of the Second World War.

He further claims his mother was then arrested by the Secret Service and taken to Germany where she was executed by the Nazis.

The professional musician - who was adopted by a German family – claims he discovered his royal roots when he started to look into his family history 15 years ago.

King Michael ruled Romania from 1927 to 1930, and again from 1940 until 1947 until he was forced to abdicate the throne by the Communists.

The royal family has denied the claims.
