NLCS Game Four: Los Angeles Dodgers Look to Even Series with Philadelphia Phillies

The Los Angeles Dodgers found there’s no place like home as they used a strong pitching performance from Hiroki Kuroda to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-2 on Sunday for their first win in their best-of-seven NLCS and will now try to even the series at 2-2 on Monday when they host the Phillies in Game Four.

Los Angeles will be putting the ball in the hand of Derek Lowe (14-11 3.24 ERA) and hope that he can bounce back from a Game One loss in which he allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings in a game the dodgers dropped 3-2. Lowe picked up a win against the Phillies in the regular season but wasn’t much better as he allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings. That win started a streak of seven wins in eight decisions for the Lowe but that ended when the Dodgers lost Game One of the NLCS.

Philadelphia will send Joe Blanton (9-12 4.69 ERA) to the mound on Monday evening and the Phillies would be thrilled if they could get a repeat performance from his Game Four start against the Milwaukee Brewers that clinched the NLDS. Blanton hasn’t lost since he traded his Oakland A’s uniform for a Phillies uniform back in July, posting a 4-0 record in the regular season. He faced the Dodgers twice with the Phillies and didn’t earn a decision in either game but he was roughed up a bit in LA when he allowed four runs and nine hits in five innings.

First pitch for Game Four of the NLCS is scheduled to be delivered at 8:22 p.m. ET.
