Monday Night Football Scores: Derek Anderson Leads Cleveland Browns Past New York Giants at Dog Pound

Derek Anderson threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns, Braylon Edwards had 154 yards receiving and a TD on five catches and Jamal Lewis had 88 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Cleveland Browns (2-3) pulled off an upset and handed the New York Giants (4-1) their first loss of the year 35-14 on Monday Night Football.

The Giants hung tough in the first half as Brandon Jacobs gave them a 7-3 lead in the second quarter when he scored on a 7-yard run but the Browns answered quickly as Anderson hit Edwards on a 70-yard strike setting up a 4-yard touchdown run by Jamal Anderson two plays later. Cleveland then extended their lead to 17-7 on an Anderson to Darnell Dinkins 22-yard touchdown pass.

Eli Manning managed to pull the Giants to within 17-14 with 12 seconds left in the first half when he hit Plaxico Burress on a 3-yard toss but that would be as close as New York would get as Cleveland dominated the second half.

Phil Dawson gave the Browns some breathing room in the third quarter with a 26-yard field goal and Anderson extended that lead early in the fourth quarter when he hit Edwards on an 11-yard pass to push the score to 27-14.

Manning drove the Giants down the field and looked to be in position to cut the deficit to six but he was intercepted by Eric Wright who returned the ball 94 yards for a touchdown that sealed the game.
