World Cup 2010 European Qualifier Group Five Schedule for Oct. 15
After Sunday’s matches in Group Five European qualifier play there was little in the way of a clear picture of who would punch their ticket to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. Spain, Belgium and Turkey each collected wins and all three remain serious contenders for the top.
Bosnia-Herzegovina suffered a devastating loss to Turkey on Sunday after an own-goal put them in a tie with Turkey and they surrendered a goal later to lose 2-1. They’ll look to bounce back against Armenia who has yet to score a goal or register a point.
Turkey has a great chance to improve its position within the group as they face Estonia who has been nothing short of awful in group play. Turkey had their narrow win on Sunday while Estonia was blanked by Spain. In their three matches thus far Estonia has allowed 13 goals.
In the match of the day Spain will face Belgium in what will likely determine who controls the group after Wednesday. Spain has yet to lose and hasn’t allowed a goal while Belgium sits on seven points but has shown a defense that could be vulnerable.
