Matt Cardle can’t remember singing on last night’s (12.12.10) ‘The X Factor’.
The 27-year-old painter and decorator – who beat fellow finalists
Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction to be crowned winner of the ITV1
show - has revealed he was on so much medication to cure his sore
throat he has no memory of his performance.
After it was announced he had scooped the £1million recording contract,
the Essex-based singer – who has been suffering from ill health over
the past two weeks - told The Sun newspaper: “I don’t remember
anything. I was so jacked up on steroids and adrenalin. I was just
hoping for the best and I sang the best I could.
“It’s been a long slog getting here and winning is the best way to end the competition.”
However, the superstitious star may be putting his success down to a
pair of lucky green socks, which he believes boosted his chances of
winning 'The X Factor'.
Holding up the pair of green and black socks, which he refused to wash
throughout the finals, Matt said: “These have seen me through.”
