A Polish policeman fined himself so he could meet a daily quota laid down by his police chief.

Sergeant Andrzej Tymanski walked on a railway line and then wrote himself a ticket because he did not want to punish anyone who didn’t deserve it.

He said: “I was not prepared to fine someone who had not broken the law just to meet the quota - so I walked on the railway line – and fined myself.”

This is not the first time a person has sacrificed themselves for their work. Last month an American boss Lola Gonzalez fired herself from her position as the head of a company making background checks for employers because she didn’t want to sack any of her staff.
