Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding coverage will be hosted by Huw Edwards, it has been revealed.
The 49-year-old TV presenter said on being given the important role by
the BBC that covering the royal nuptials on April 29 will by a “great
honour”.
The wedding at Westminster Abbey is expected to attract over one billion viewers worldwide.
Mr. Edwards was chosen over legendary host David Dimbleby, 72, who has
been the voice of a string of state occasions in recent years including
Princess Diana’s funeral and Queen Elizabeth’s golden jubilee.
Mr. Edwards said: “I am delighted with the news and consider it a great
honour to play a part in what I am sure will be a huge national
celebration.”
Other preparations for the nuptials have included two official
engagement portraits taken by world famous photographer Mario Testino.
He said of the couple – who have dated for almost eight years after
meeting as St Andrews University in Scotland: “They are in their prime
and brimming with happiness.
"I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together.”
