Stacey Solomon and Shaun Ryder are to release a Christmas single together.

The 'I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!' winner and runner-up - who formed a close bond while in the jungle - have revealed they are recording a version of classic 1987 festive track, The Pogues' 'Fairytale of New York'.

Shaun told the Daily Express newspaper: "We're thinking 'Fairytale Of New York'. We probably shouldn't because the original is so good. But you can't help meddling."

The festive track will be released in time for the pair to scoop the Christmas number one spot if they can beat off tough competition from this year's 'X Factor' winner Matt Cardle and anti-'X Factor' group Cage Against The Machine, who are releasing a four-and-a-half-minute silent song.

Shaun recently admitted he is a "big fan" of Stacey - who reached 'The X Factor' final last year - and the Happy Mondays frontman thinks she has a bright future ahead of her.

He said: "Stacey is brilliant, I am a big fan. That girl is phenomenal. She thinks she'll end up back at Starbucks. She can't see that she has a career ahead of her and that she is beautiful."
