Vernon Kay's ITV gameshow 'The Whole 19 Yards' has been axed after just one series.
The TV host's Saturday night series was scrapped by bosses after the
36-year-old star - who is married to 'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter
Tess Daly - said he wanted to concentrate on his career in the US
instead.
Launched in April, 'The Whole 19 Yards' pulled in 4.5 million viewers
and sees contestants take part in a series of agility games.
While Vernon - who hosts US show 'Skating With The Stars' on the ABC
network - will continue fronting ITV1's 'Family Fortunes' back in the
UK, he needs to free up more time for his career in America.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Vern loved doing the show but just
can't fit a new series into his schedule. He loves America and he and
Tess are looking to spend some serious time there.
"Vernon wants to become the next big British TV star after people like Simon Cowell and Cat Deeley."
Vernon is now believed to be planning on a Stateside move with Tess and their daughters, Phoebe, five, and 11-month-old Amber.
Earlier this year, he signed a $1million deal to host another ABC prime
time gameshow 'The Six', which will be launched on the network in the
New Year.
A source said at the time: "He hoped they'd give him the job but, as
he's English with a broad accent, it wasn't always a done deal. Yet the
accent actually swung it for him because they loved it."
