The prince was flanked by seven protection officers yesterday (14.12.10) as he turned up for his first public appearance since he and his wife Camilla, Duchess of York, were targeted by a masked mob who pelted paint at them and smashed the rear window of their Rolls-Royce last Thursday (09.12.10).
The Prince appeared at the newly refurbished Jewish Museum in Camden, North London, in a £150,000 armor-plated racing green Bentley limousine, with £100,000 of safety extras including bullet-proof windows and a satellite tracking system.
One of his officers sat in the car with him as the other six followed in two Range Rovers.
An unmarked silver police van full of uniformed officers also joined the escort, which was protected by four motorbike outriders.
A police source told The Sun newspaper: "With hindsight, it's pretty clear the Bentley should have been used while there was unrest on the streets.
"It would take five thugs with sledgehammers half an hour to even put a crack in the window. It's absolutely rock solid."
Charles and Camilla’s car was attacked last week as they traveled to the Royal Variety Performance in London's West End on the same day as demonstrations against the rise of University tuition fees.
Camilla was reportedly so afraid she was reduced to tears and was seen grabbing Charles' hand while they were inside the armored vehicle.
