Motorcycle Riding Santa Gets Police Escort On Toy Collection Benefit Ride

The annual Montgomery County Virgina Police motor squad's "Santa Ride" to benefit the Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health rode on despite this week's cold wintery weather.

The benefit ride featured a motorcycle platoon of more than 40 county police motor officers escorting a motorcycle-riding Santa Claus through town. The officers stopped to pick up donated gifts at all six county police district stations and at the Executive Office Building in Rockville where Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski, County Executive Isiah Leggett and county police Chief J. Thomas Manger greeted them. County businesses and residents also donated gift cards so that families could purchase food and supplies during their stays at the inn.

The ride concluded at the Children's Inn at NIH in Bethesda where families gathered for holiday festivities and gifts and met with Santa.
