World Cup 2010 European Qualifier Group Two Scores for Oct. 15
Group Two of the 2010 World Cup European Qualifiers got much tighter after Wednesday’s action as Greece was handed its first loss, Israel played to a draw and Switzerland picked up three valuable points to leave a logjam atop group play.
In the match of the day Switzerland got a goal from Blaise Nkufo in the 77th minute to beat Greece 2-1 and jump right back into the thick of things. Switzerland now has seven points, two behind Greece who still sits atop the group but just barely.
Israel remains the only team without a loss in Group Two play after earning a 1-1 draw with Latvia on Wednesday. Israel now has eight points, just one outside of Greece while Latvia is sits on four points after four matches.
Luxembourg had a great chance to move up the ladder in group play but failed to score a goal against Moldova and had to settle for a 0-0 draw.
