Naomi Campbell refused to look "bedraggled" when she did her community service.

The supermodel had to carry out court-ordered work in the soup kitchen at London's Whitechapel Mission in 2008 as part of her sentence for an air rage incident and caused a stir when she turned up for it in designer clothes.

But now Naomi has defended her actions, saying she can't see anything wrong with looking nice when arriving for work.

She said: "I wore couture every day. Why shouldn't I have done? Why should they expect me to go looking bedraggled or something?

"It wasn't planned at all. I decided on the day and I still gave them what they wanted, it didn't stop me from doing what I had to do though."

Although Naomi wore glamorous clothes to work in, she drew the line at donning a pair of designer heels.

She told Britain's Grazia magazine: "I didn't wear heel though! I wore boots - only heels when I was arriving and leaving!"

Naomi has previously revealed how doing the community service had changed her for the better.

She said: "I think everything is an experience in life, and experiences change you. They make you a better person, you learn from experiences, so I've got no complaints."
