The man – known only as Jester – told a police officer: “I'm under arrest anyway, I'm sorry, I've got to do it” before jumping 85 metres from California's Bixby Bridge.
The daring escape was filmed and posted on the video sharing site YouTube with one viewer commenting “Total respect for the law... not,” while another said “Before I die I want to do this... with a cop in my presence!! Haha.”
It was reported that Jester was charged with trespassing, resisting a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and possession of marijuana while driving.
