A retired Canadian teacher has entered the Guinness World Records for 2011 with the world’s largest collection of Santa Claus memorabilia.

74-year-old Jean-Guy Laquerre began his collection in 1988 when a deceased relative left him a Santa Claus statuette and since then has accumulated 25,189 items from 33 countries.

Mr. Laquerre’s friends have also become involved by sending him gifts from antique shops and garage sales.

He will now feature in the Guinness World Records 2011 edition and also on the new Guinness World Records iPad app ‘Guinness World Records: At Your Fingertips’, which launches today.
