Man Arrested After Stabbing Bus Passengers In Japan

Japanese police say 13 people on a commuter bus in the city of Toride were wounded by a passenger wielding a knife. A 27-year-old man identified as Yuta Saito was arrested for stabbing and slashing at least 5 passengers. The other 8 passengers were injured as they fled Saito’s attack.

Saito was detained by bystanders until officers from the Toride Police Station arrived and made the arrest. The motive for the attack is still unclear. Police say most of the passengers were middle school and high school students.

At least one of the victims sustained a serious head and ear injury. No other details were available.
