Nebraska State Senator Sues God, Judge Dismisses Case Citing Lack of Address for Defendant

Ernie Chambers, a 38-year state senator from Nebraska, has seen his case against God thrown out of court after the judge ruled there was no means of actually serving God with legal papers.

Chambers had been seeking a permanent injunction that would have stopped God from carrying out “death, destruction and terrorization.” According to Chambers, who filed the suit last year, the court had already recognized the existence of God and he wanted to hold the Higher Power accountable for his actions.

In his filings Chambers said God had brought “widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants.”

Judge Marlon Polk ruled, “Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice.” That may not stop Chambers from appealing.
