Eminem Announces "Relapse" as New Album Title, Release Date Not Set

Eminem has released the title of his long-awaited album on Thursday, titling the album Relapse.

Eminem made the announcement during the launch party for his new autobiography, "The Way I Am", on Wednesday night and previewed the new track "I Am Having A Relapse" from his new LP.

Rumors swirled about the title of Eminem's new album as several media outlets believed his new LP would be called King Mathers. However, Eminem ended the speculation during an interview on his SIRIUS Radio channel Shade45 on Wednesday night.

"There are a lot of fake album titles floating out there — a lot of bullsh-- titles," Eminem told Angea Yee. "The real title of my album that's coming out is called Relapse."

Various media reports suggest the title may actually be R3LAPSE, but Eminem has not yet confirmed the spelling of the disc's name.

Although Eminem's release date has not yet been confirmed, it has been long speculated that his album will come out after 50 Cent's new album Before I Self Destruct, which is set to be released on December 2.

50 Cent was in attendance at the event for Eminem's book and stated that his album will precede Eminem's album and Dr. Dre's highly-anticipated LP Detox. said, "It's a story actually ...Before I Self Destruct, I'll Relapse, then Detox," said 50.

Relapse will be the first album by Eminem since 2004's Encore, which sold over 4 million copies and is certified 4x platinum by the RIAA. Relapse will be his sixth studio album.
