NFL Week 7 Schedule and Odds: Key AFC and NFC Match-Ups Could Shape Rest of Year

While the Tennessee Titans are looking to remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers look to pad their lead in the AFC North, and the New York Giants will look to bounce back after an embarrassing Monday Night Football loss to the Cleveland Browns, the real story heading into Week 7 of the NFL season is the matchup of several clubs that are in key divisional battles that could already play a role in how the rest of the season shakes out.

In the AFC the Buffalo Bills will be facing the San Diego Chargers, the Baltimore Ravens face the Miami Dolphins, the NY Jets take on the Oakland Raiders and on Monday Night Football the New England Patriots face the Denver Broncos.

The matchups in the NFC are just as important as the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings meet and the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers square off.

The Tennessee Titans (5-0) are coming off a bye-week and are listed as a 9-point favorite as they travel to take on the Kansas City Chiefs (1-4). The Chiefs are also coming off a bye-week following a blow-out loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 5.

In one of the marquee matchups of the week the Buffalo Bills (4-1) are a 1-point favorite as they host the San Diego Chargers (3-3). The Bills had a bye-last week while the Chargers blasted the Patriots 30-10 at home and could jump over .500 for the first time with a win over the Bills.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) already have a two-game lead in the AFC North and are facing the winless Cincinnati Bengals (0-6) in what looks to be an obvious mismatch. The Steelers are 9.5-point favorites as they hit the road but Cincy has scored a total of 19 points in their two home games this year.

While the records don’t indicate much the battle will be intense as the Miami Dolphins (2-3) host the Baltimore Ravens (2-3) where a loss could devastate the playoff hopes for each team. The Dolphins are a 3-point favorite but are coming off a loss to the Texans while the Ravens were blasted 31-3 by the Colts.

Despite the fact Tony Romo may not play on Sunday the Dallas Cowboys (4-2) are a 7-point favorite for their road game against the St. Louis Rams (1-4). The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss to the Cardinals while the Rams earned a huge win against the Redskins.

The Chicago Bears (3-3) are coming off one of the most disappointing losses in recent memory having dropped their game with the Falcons after taking the lead with 11 seconds left. The Minnesota Vikings (3-3) are coming off a huge last second win on the road against the Lions to pull even on the year. All of that equates to a Chicago team favored by 3-points at home.

With a logjam in the NFC south the matchup between the Carolina Panthers (4-2) and the New Orleans Saints (3-3) could clear the picture or muddle it more. The Panthers are coming off a big loss to the Buccaneers while the Saints just hammered the Raiders. Carolina is a 3-point home favorite on Sunday.

After being embarrassed on Monday Night Football the New York Giants (4-1) will certainly be looking to get back on track and their a 10.5-point favorite as they host the San Francisco 49ers (2-4) who have lost their last three games including a 14-point loss last week to the Eagles after giving up 23 fourth quarter points.

The Houston Texans (1-4) won their first game of the year last week with a last minute drive against the Dolphins, the Detroit Lions (0-5) lost in the last minute last week against the Vikings, now the two teams meet and the Texans are being labeled a 9-point home favorite.

The New York Jets (3-2) have won their last two games and Brett Favre has continued to look more comfortable as the season progresses and they’ll be a 3-point favorite as they hit the road to face a chaotic Oakland Raiders (1-4) who fell to the Saints by 31 points last wek.

After scoring big road wins against the Cowboys and Eagles the Washington Redskins (4-2) took a step backwards last week losing at home to the Rams but they’ll try to get back on track when they host the Cleveland Browns (2-3) who are coming off a huge MNF win over the Giants. Washington is a 7.5-point favorite.

Peyton Manning certainly showed signs of being back on the same page as his receivers last week as the Indianapolis Colts (3-2) blasted the Ravens and they’ll be a 1-point favorite on the road as they face the Green Bay Packers (3-3) who are coming off a 10-point road win over the Seahawks last week.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2) are coming off a big win over the Panthers and remained unbeaten at home and are now listed as a 10.5-point favorite over the visiting Seattle Seahawks (1-4) who are coming off a home loss to the Packers and are one of the most disappointing teams of 2008.

Monday Night Football features a matchup of AFC contenders as the New England Patriots (3-2) host the Denver Broncos (4-2) with the Pats being listed as a 3-point favorite. The Patriots are coming off a big loss to the Chargers while the Broncos dropped a home game to the Jaguars.
