Spokesman for Casey Anthony Defense Team Suggests Caylee Anthony is Dead

In a television interview focusing on the case of Casey Anthony a spokesman for the 22-year-old mother’s defense team seemed to suggest that Caylee Anthony, the daughter of Casey, was dead.

When asked about the first-degree murder charge Casey Anthony was now facing Todd Black, a spokesman for Anthony’s lead attorney Jose Baez, stated “This is a serious case involving not just the loss of the life of this little girl, but the loss of whatever is going to happen with Casey Anthony.”

Baez has said the comment has been taken out of context and that he still believes Caylee Anthony is alive.

Caylee Anthony disappeared in June but was not reported missing by Casey until July, one month before she was to turn three-years-old. She told investigators that she had dropped Caylee off with a babysitter and when she returned both were gone. After searching extensively for Caylee investigators eventually expressed their belief that she was dead.

They cited evidence taken from the trunk of a car used by Casey Anthony in which human decomposition was found as was hair samples and chloroform.

Earlier this week a Florida grand jury indicted Casey Anthony on seven counts including first-degree murder, manslaughter, child abuse and lying to investigators. She is expected to be arraigned in early November.
