A cargo ship and its 22 crew members have been released by Somali pirates after a South Korean shipping company paid an undisclosed ransom.
The ship and its crew, made up of eight South Koreans and 14 Myanmar citizens, had been held since Sept. 10 after being hijacked off the coast of Somalia. They were released, as was the Bright Ruby, when J&J Trust paid the cash ransom.
There have been an alarming number of pirate attacks since the beginning of the year and the sizes of the vessels hijacked have become increasingly larger.
