AP Top 25 College Football Scores: Sam Bradford Throws for 468 Yards as #4 Oklahoma Sooners Get Past #16 Kansas Jayhawks

Sam Bradford threw for a school-record 468 yards and tossed three touchdowns, Juaquin Iglesias had 191 yards receiving on 12 catches and Chris Brown rushed for 92 yards and a TD on 12 carries as the #4 Oklahoma Sooners (6-1, 2-1) fought their way to a 45-31 victory over the #16 Kansas Jayhawks (5-2, 2-1) in Big-12 action on Saturday.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter as Bradford put the Sooners up 7-0 with a 12-yard toss to Matt Clapp but Jocques Crawford countered with a 2-yard touchdown run to even the score at 7-7 heading into the second quarter.

Oklahoma moved in front early in the second frame as DeMarco Murray scored on a 3-yard run and after Jacob Branstetter kicked a 23-yard field goal for the Jayhawks the Sooners pushed their lead to 21-10 on a 14-yard TD run from Chris Brown with three minutes left in the half. That was plenty of time for Kansas to answer though as Todd Reesing hit Dezmon Briscoe on a 69-yard touchdown pass but there was still enough time for Jimmy Steven to boot a 19-yard field goal for the Sooners and Oklahoma was up 24-17 at the break.

Bradford gave the Sooners some breathing room early in the third with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Gresham but things got tighter quick as Kansas needed less than two minutes to put the ball in the endzone as Jake Sharp scored from 17-yards out and the Jayhawks were within 31-24. Oklahoma continued to use their balanced attack and went with the ground game as Murray scored his second TD of the game on a 7-yard run for the 14-point advantage.

Oklahoma put the game away early in the fourth quarter when Bradford hit Kolby Smith on a 2-yard TD to push the Sooners lead to 45-24. The Sooners defense then shut the Jayhawks down, allowing a late touchdown after the game had already been decided.

The Sooners will travel to take on Kansas State next week while Kansas hosts Texas Tech.
