Taliban Insurgents Slaughter at least 30 People Traveling on Afghan Buses

Taliban insurgents stopped three buses traveling in the southern province of Kandahar in Afghanistan, boarded the vehicles and slaughtered at least 30 passengers.

According to a Taliban spokesman the men killed were all government soldiers but Afghan officials have said all those slaughtered were civilians, many of whom were beheaded. They noted soldiers do not travel in military convoys or planes, not on civilian buses.

The attacks occurred on Thursday but many of the bodies were just recently discovered, discarded over a large area.
