Senator James Rhoades Killed in Car Accident

Longtime Pennsylvania state senator James Rhoades was killed in a car accident Saturday. The 66-year-old Republican was riding in a Cadillac with his wife, Mary, when the vehicle collided head-on with a truck.

The couple was taken to a hostpital where Rhoades was pronounced dead. Mary Rhoades suffered injuries but is expected to recover.

Rhoades served in the Senate for seven terms. He was campaigning for an eighth term. The accident is being investigated.
